Clean Water for Delaware Act Proposes $50 Million Investment

The latest chapter in securing legislation to support water infrastructure was announced by Governor Carney at a January 21st news conference. The proposed $50 M in the Clean Water for Delaware Act will be supplemented with Federal funds as well as existing state water clean up monies to total more than a 100 M investment according to state officials.

The bill, HB1, substitutes for HB200 in this legislative session and creates the Clean Water Trust Fund. It passed its first hurdle at the House Natural Resources Committee Hearing on the 22nd where it was unanimously voted out of Committee. A vote in the full House follows shortly.

In a two-step process, Governor Carney’s Fiscal Year 2021 budget proposal includes the proposed $50M to fund the Clean Water Trust Fund.
